If there is one person in the NFL I’d want judging me or my team, besides for PacMan Jones, Rae Carruth, Ben Roethlisberger…(yeah there are a lot of idiots)…I’d be Mr.”I Pack Heat” a.k.a Tank Johnson.
The man has been arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon, more times then he has sacks in the NFL. So when Tank brought up Chad Ochocinco, Carson Palmer, Terrell Owens, and Cedric Benson; and claimed that they’re “Forming a cloud over the team“….Cincinnati Bengals Owner Mike Brown’s ears must have stood up.
“When we got Chad and T.O. coming off their TV circuit right into our training camp, I mean, that just put a big cloud over a bunch of humble guys,” Johnson said on Sirius XM NFL Radio, via NFL.com. “And I’m not saying anything to take away from Chad and T.O.’s offseason adventures, because, hey, if they want you on TV, be on TV, but it just really clouded a bunch of humble guys.” [Sirius NFL Radio]
I mean I’d take his word, he knows a thing or two about distracting a team. On January 23, 2007, two days after his Chicago Bears won the NFC Championship Game, Johnson was forced to appear in court to request permission to leave the State of Illinois to travel to Miami, Florida to play in Super Bowl XLI; stemming from an arrest on gun charges late in 2006. I’d say that would be “forming a cloud” over a good thing, wouldn’t you?
When talking about the possibility of Bengals QB Carson Palmer holding out, Tank voiced his opinion again:
“There’s no way that you can bring that kind of energy into the locker room. I mean, if a guy doesn’t want to be there, let him go,” Johnson said. [Sirius NFL Radio]
Now I don’t think Tank’s wrong, to be honest I think he’s dead on, but I’d maybe keep my comments to myself if I pack more illegal heat then Saddam Hussein.
