Ray Edwards Turning In Football Dummy For Punching Bag

This weeks FloppingOut Guest Article of the week comes to you by our man Carlton Walker. Thanks for the write-up brother and Stay Floppy!

Thanks to the NFL Lockout, Minnesota Vikings Defensive End Ray Edwards is attempting to try his hand in the boxing ring. Edwards has worked boxing into his off-season workout regimen for over 4 years and feels that he is ready to become a Heavyweight boxer.

What is even more incredible is that his trainer, Jeff Warner, a former heavyweight boxer and pro wrestler even went as far to say:

“Ray is a phenom. He’s a modern-day Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson combined. He’s the greatest conditioned heavyweight ever and he’ll knock out any fighter in the world”

What the heck are these guys smoking? Not only do I feel that he couldn’t beat the top 2 heavyweights in today’s game, Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko, but how in the world is this guy going to beat anyone if he has only boxed for 4 years, FOR FUN! That is ridiculous. I also can’t comprehend that he could even put himself in the same breath as Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Jack Johnson, Evander Holyfield, Joe Frazier, George Foreman and more. Right there I named 7 guys that Ray Edwards thinks he is and can be better than.

I’m all for the hype in professional boxing. Boxing is a sport that has not gotten much love recently and it is too much of a great sport, too much of an historic sport to be treated the way that it is. But when no name Football players such as Ray Edwards come in talking the junk that they are, it becomes even harder to buy. I think that his 6’5 255 pound frame can do some damage. Don’t get me wrong about that. But if he goes against the big boys in the sport today, he will still get FLOPPED-OUT like all the other football boxer wanna-bes in the past.
