MSG Flashes A Lin Fortune Cookie Picture….UH OH!!!
Why does everyone have to be so racially sensitive? Last night, as I was watching my boy Jeremy Lin spearhead the New York Knicks to their seventh straight win, I saw the image below, flash at the end of the game as they left the coverage to go to commercial and instantly thought…..uh oh, PEOPLE are going to go nuts and someone is going to be offended.
Oh SHIT a FortLIN cookie. Since Lin is the NBA’s first American born Taiwanese player, I guess it’s kind of hard to know what qualifies as “deliberate racism” and what is considered “accidental racism“. Personally, I think this is more accidental, since in reality, fortune cookies aren’t even Chinese (or Taiwanese), fortLIN cookies are actually an American invention; it dates back to San Francisco in the late 1890′s to early 1900′s, and is based on a Japanese cracker. Fortune cookies are not served in China. They are just for the #fatty Americans so that they can have a sugary dessert after their salty meals. You know Americans are just #fatties.
FRANKIE MAGELLAN/FRANKIE BONAPART’S 3 CENTS…
Jeremy Lin is ASIAN. Is it a bad thing that he is ASIAN? People make it seem like when you point out someone is Asian, or Black or Latino it is a negative thing. The guy is different, BIG DEAL. Everyone is different. I am white, but I am more similar to my black friend than my white friend. I mean what difference does it make. But I embrace that yes my friend is black. You obviously see color….unless you are blind. And when you see it and accept it “equally” you can start having fun with it.
I mean ook at creep Darren Rovell….tweeting that this picture walks a fine line with being racist. HOW? Isn’t Jeremy Lin Asian? I mean is he not? If they put a picture with David Lee finding coal in his stocking after a bad shooting night WOULD THAT BE RACIST. Since mostly whites celebrate Christmas. Would it be racist if they showed Kobe dribbling between “the crossroads” after winning his 6th title. “The Crossroads” are known to give you luck in African culture. NO. David Lee is White and Kobe is Black. OMG. DID I REALLY JUST KOBE IS BLACK.
People are different and people have no choice what skin color they are. Not like you picked to be White or Black or Asian. If we don’t start embracing the fact that people are different, instead of getting defensive about race all the time….THEN STUPID HEADLINES LIKE “Jeremy Lin ‘Fortune Cookie’ Picture Stupid At Best, Racism At Worst; Anti-Christian Phase Next?” will surface like a Jets fan if the team goes 8-8 again next year.
BACK TO HEATHER: I doubt Lin himself finds it racist. He’s too busy winning (or Lin-Ning). Some on Twitter thought the opposite. Some said it was “a tad on the racist side”. Others called it “accidental racism.” Just my opinion but people need to relax and stop making everything about race. One thing I do know for sure, I’m about to take my Carmelo Anthony shirt and trade it in for a Lin shirt, because I he ain’t coming back down to earth anytime soon.
