MLB Monday Morning Notes

Only Days Away, Get your Hotdogs and Beers ready.

ITS MONDAY MORNING BABY (Dickie-V Voice) and we’re 3 days away from Opening Day in the MLB.

Here are some quick hits to get your wood ready for Baseball season.

  • Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona responded to Baltimore Orioles skipper Buck Showalter’s criticism of Boston general manager Theo Epstein on Sunday.

Terry Francona rebuttled Buck Showalter’s quotes this morning after Buck went in on Sox GM Theo Epstein last week, if you haven’t read it check it out here.

Here is what Terry said to the O’s new skipper:

” I just thought it was a little bit out of line,” Francona said Sunday. “I don’t think he’d be appreciating it if I said something about Andy (Orioles general manager MacPhail), which I wouldn’t.

“And for the record, I think Andy’s really good.”

Okay Terry a little soft there but I feel you on taking the high road, wait whats that? Theres more?

“I don’t remember them beating us that much,” he said “Maybe it was a different schedule (they were playing).”

“I don’t know (how much better they are), ” Francona said. “I’ve been spending so much time worrying about us — especially (because) our GM’s not smart. So, I’ve got to pay more attention.I don’t need to rate the Orioles.”

GOTTEM! Props Terry, Boston still sucks.

  • Chicago Cubs manager Mike Quade goes H.A.M on Fatboy, and former Cubs pitcher Carlos Silva shortly after the team released him on Sunday.

Honestly, just watch the video Quade is PISSED.

Nice Quade, telling it like it is baby. Not only was Mike pissed off, but even Cubs GM Jim Hendry   wanted in on the action.

“Obviously, we’re dealing with a man at this particular point of his career that’s not willing to face the facts that what he’s done the last few years, except for a two-month period (last year), is well below major league standards,” Hendry said. “And he seemed to make a continual problem of blaming everyone but himself. (He gave up) 29 hits in his first 11 innings of camp, and I’ve never had anyone I’ve dealt with classify that as ‘bad luck.’

I mean if ANY team knows what it takes to win it’s the Cubs so I’d take these comments to heart Carlos.

  • New  York Mets Carlos Beltran Ready For Opening Day?

So it seems like the New York Mets will have outfielder Carlos Beltran when their team opens up in Florida on Friday Night vs the Marlins.

Beltran is said to be on the travel list for the Mets Grapefruit League game Tuesday meaning if he travels, and plays in the game Tuesday he will no longer be able to have a retroactive DL stint. In normal terms that means if Beltran plays Tuesday and doesn’t feel he can play Opening  Day, he will have to have a full 15-day DL trip. If he doesn’t travel and play he can come off the DL within a few days.

You HAVE to feel confident when it comes to the Mets and injuries right?

  • Tampa Rays Players Robbed At Spring Training Facility.

The spring training rental home of three Tampa Bay Rays players was robbed on Saturday, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Evan Longoria, David Price and Reid Brignac reportedly had at least $50,000 worth of electronics and jewelry stolen from their home while they were playing a Spring Taining game

Among the items taken were a 60-inch flat screen TV, three iPads, two Xbox game systems, headphones, Price’s laptop and several of Price’s high-priced watches that were packed in a bag of clothes. “They probably didn’t even know what was in it,” he said. Price estimated his loss in excess of $50,000, though he said his most expensive watch was insured.

Damn, it seems to be the story of the Rays year so far, Boston stole Carl Crawford, the Yankees robbed Rafael Soriano, and the Cubbies took Matt Garza, and Carlos Pena. Best of luck without those guys playing in the Sox and Yankees division.

  • A-Rod to Hollywood? Yankees 3rd basemen’s new piece of ass is all about Alex.

According to UK’s Daily Express, Alex Rodriguez’s girlfriend Cameron Diaz is working on a new movie for the Yankees third baseman.

It appears the actress is crazy about the New York Yankees player, cooking up a new project involving him so they don’t have to be apart during the new baseball season.

“Cameron actually has an idea for a romantic comedy set around Major League Baseball,” reports a source close to the actress.

“She’s very excited about developing her own projects and the fact this one is about a baseball player means she has good reason to spend more time with A-Rod and the Yankees.

“She’s even thinking that Alex could star in the movie with her.”

Oh boy looks like we got a stage-5 clinger on our hands. Run Alex, Run.

Good news is Alex already had a drink of water on the acting front, check him out here playing the part of a crybaby liar.
