Knicks Ready To Roll Or Just On A High?
After the Knicks lost to the 76ers on March 11th with MELO and AMARE sitting on the bench in the 4th, making it 5 losses in a row, I went OFF on a KNICKS RANT. I MEAN I WAS PISSED. Who would have known that 10 days later, after playing that same 76er team: I WOULD MORE PUMPED than if I saw Lisa Ann’s titties. Last nights Knicks win against the 76ers was an exclamation point! for the New York Knicks. In those last 10 days the Knicks piled up a 5 game winning proving that the Knicks can be as good as their talent, can be one of the best defensive teams in the NBA and maybe just maybe, one the top teams in the NBA. Yea I said it. SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? MY MAIN MAN, MIKE MOTHERFUCKER WOODSON.
I said to my friend papa a night ago “yo the #knicks are killing right now.” He half jokingly said “c’mon man these wins don’t count yall running on a high right now.” Which made me laugh but also made me think. Yes Mike Woodson has done a terrific job and the Knicks look like a different team. They are D’ing up like they were during the Linsanity run (& possibly even more). The only thing I do not like about this run: IS THAT IT SHEDS LIGHT ON THE FACT THAT MELO AND MAYBE OTHERS WERE QUITTING ON D’ANTONI. The past is the past, and things are good now so I don’t want to rain on the parade but I do not like the fact that players quit on any coach. WILL THEY QUIT ON WOODSON? Does having that quitters mentality mean they won’t EVER WIN with this core?
Now Melo is coming out every night now, playing defense and EVEN PASSING THE ROCK. And Stat LOOKS like Mike Woodson stuck a needle in his ass. Did you see that block on Elton Brand last night? AMARE BACK!? During the D’Antoni “I have no control stretch” WE SAW NONE OF THAT. Now yes both parties are to blame. We all know D’Antoni is not a players coach, and does not stress defense. But just because D’Antoni doesn’t stress defense doesn’t mean don’t play defense. During that Knicks 6 game losing streak guys were coming through the lane at will. At times it even made me think: WAS MELO and co throwing games to get out of NY? Sounds crazy, but when you combine 0 EFFORT from the Knicks with the fact that NY WAS KILLING MELO (in particular) and Co…AND I WONDER (Labi Siffre voice).
Either they wanted out or more realistically they QUIT UNDER D’ANTONI. Let’s see when the Knicks hit a 3 game losing streak, and let’s see how they react the next night out. Will they get that quitters mentality again. I DON’T KNOW. But what I do know being someone who studies history….IS HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF. Hopefully it doesn’t this year….
