In tonight’s first round of the NFL Draft, The New York Jets selected Temple defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson, with the 30th pick.
Hm, sounds familiar. Oh yeah that’s because our FLOPPY asses JUST interviewed him earlier today, just hours before the draft started.
The 6’4, 305-pound Wilkerson had 9.5 sacks last year for the Temple Owls. The Jets have needed to get younger and better on the defensive line for a couple years. They had only 8.5 sacks from their defensive linemen last season, ranking 29th in the league. Veteran defensive end Shaun Ellis had 4.5 of them, but he is a free agent and will turn 34 in June. The Jets recently cut former NFL Draft bust Vernon Gholston this past March. Gholston was selected with the 6th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, and produced just as much as I did in the NFL.
