Dickey Will Get UP Regardless Of What The Mets Want

Mets Pitcher R.A. Dickey does not care what the Mets think or how much money he has on the line for 2012, DICKEY IS GETTING UP MOUNT KILMANJARO in January. YEAAA BABY YEAAA. R.A. is climbing the highest African mountain, located in Tanzania, to benefit Red Light District Outreach Mumbai which combats human trafficking (HOS and MO HOS) in India. Now the problem comes with the Mets and Dickey’s contract, where Dickey is set to make $4,250,000 (why? cause he is a Met) but the Mets let Dickey know that in his contract it states that if Dickey gets injured even in the slightest way – they can and will void his contract. Dickey still does not give a shit…

In Dickey’s feature story with New York Magazine Dickey was asked: Do the Mets have concerns about you climbing 20,000 feet and Dickey told New York…

“Yeah. I’m a grown man, and I can do what I want to do. But at the same time, let’s say I slip, fall, break my leg, and can’t pitch for two months. Legally, they have the authority to void my contract. They’re not saying that they would exercise that right, but they wanted me to be informed. Although, on paper, the climb seems like a fantastic thing to get behind, it’s been tough. They view it as a dangerous thing. Of course, it’s a risk I’m willing to take. I know what I’m doing well enough to know it’s nothing more than a glorified hike. There are no technical climbing skills involved — it’s not like Everest or K-2 or Fuji. So I’m not real worried about it.”

Another Met player just teabagging the New York Mets front office. At least it won’t be as bad as what Jose Reyes will do to them in about a month. But if I was Dickey I’d be a little worried about climbing 20,000 feet for the first time in my life. Yup the only experience Dickey has climbing is….well actually he has no experience climbing EVER but don’t worry Mets fan he did buy a mask and has done triathlons in the past so…

“I’ve done some triathlon training over the past two-and-a-half years in the off-season to get ready for Spring Training,” Dickey told New York Magazine in regards to his preparation for the climb. “Outside of that, I have an altitude training mask that I can work out in, sleep in, walk in. It emulates, let’s say, being at 10,000 feet, and there’s a nozzle that you screw on that emulates being at 15,000 and then 20,000, and so on. But I won’t be going to any high altitudes to train. I don’t have the time. I’ve got a family of four, and I’m gone so much anyway.

If I was a Mets front office #idiot I would be looking for another pitcher REAL soon. Because you just know if something happens to the 37 year old Dickey that Tanzanian ambulance won’t have enough air in the tires to transport him to a hospital. Risking $4.25 mil for a mountain climb to support something that let’s be honest – will change as much as Renee Richards’ fake vagina? Eh I’d keep getting fatter on my couch Dickey, at least you know the Mets will keep paying you for that.
