CBS Dumps Gus Johnson….What The Hell Is Going On With Broadcasting?

Two Great Broadcasters Looking For Work....FloppingOut Radio Has A Slot Fellas!
I don’t get what these broadcasting networks are doing now a days. The other day my favorite New York Sports radio host Brandon Tierney tweeted he will no longer be at 1050 ESPN Radio, after being “let go” and TODAY news broke that CBS will be canning my favorite play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson.
Tierney has been co-hosting the McDonald & Tierney Show with Jody McDonald on weekdays from 1-3PM since 2009 and has quickly become 1050 ESPN’s best radio host.
Brandon joined 1050 ESPN in 2003 as a SportsCenter anchor, also hosting 1050 Knicks pre-game, half-time and post-game show for three seasons (2005-06 through 2007-08) and served as an occasional play-by-play announcer for the station’s Knicks broadcasts.
Not only was I pissed that Tierney would no longer be at ESPN, but it got worse when his time slot was filled by Mike Lupica. Plus the fact that Robin Lundberg and Ryan Ruocco still have a job on that station is beyond me and pathetic.
Now I digested all that (shocker I digested something) this week, and now BOOM (John Madden voice) this bomb has dropped.
Gus Johnson, who everyone quickly fell in love with for his crazy play-by-play work, will no longer be working games for CBS Sports.
Gus is best known for his insane buzzer beaters, and also being the new voice of the Madden NFL video game.
SI.com says Johnson who also does work for the Big Ten Network has recently been in talks to join FOX Sports.
All I can say is if FOX lands Gus, and drops either of Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, or Troy Aikman they’d be making a power move on CBS.
So with that all being said, I’d like to thank 1050 ESPN Radio for forcing me to listen to Mike Francesa talk about how many acres of land he owns, and how to bet on horse racing.
And CBS, how could you let THIS go?……I guess there’s always Jim Nantz (nnyyezzzzz hello frenzzzz)
