Butler Shoots Record Low In Awful Championship Game

The UConn Mens Basketball team finally has the stage. Have a seat Geno Auriemma (Chris Hansen Voice). The Huskies beat the Butler Bulldogs 53-41 for their third NCAA Title.
Butler shot a PATHETIC 18.8% from the field, setting a NCAA record for worse shooting percentage ever in a championship game. They managed just 12 field goals in their 53-41 loss to Connecticut on Monday night.
This is Butlers second consecutive Championship game loss (lost last year to the Duke Blue Devils 61-59).
Shelvin Mack who averaged almost 22 points in the first five games of the tournament, was held to 13 points; and leading scorer Matt Howard shot just 1-of-13 for the Bulldogs, making Miami Heat Forward Chris Bosh very proud.
In the end Matt Howard was just too white.
Poor Butler, 2 years in a row losing in the big game, talk about blue balls. They are now giving the 1990-1993 Buffalo Bills a run for their money.
The Huskies star guard Kemba Walker finished with 16 points for the Huskies, who won their 11th straight game since closing the regular season, after their Big East Tournament Championship.
Joining Kemba in double figures were Jeremy Lamb with 12 points, including six during UConn’s second half run, and Alex Oriakhi with 11 points and 11 rebounds. (Frankie Vitz called it, offensive rebounds played a HUGE part in the game, and Oriakhi went to work on the boards.)
This is coach Jim Calhoun’s third national championship, something only four other coaches have done. Who knows what lies ahead for Calhoun and the Huskies, but we know they will cherish this one considering they weren’t even ranked in the top 25 in preseason rankings.
